The birch polypore mushroom got its name because it grows from dead birch wood, it does not grow on living trees. The Birch Polypore has a tough and woody fruiting body and grows out of the Birch Tree, its shape resembling a pancake, its tops is brown tan and underneath pure white.
Birch trees contain betulinic acid which has many health benefits, there are also other chemicals in the Birch Polypore that are beneficial for being healthy, it contains essential fatty acids, including alpha-linoleic acid, oleic acid, and palmitoleic acid, as well as agaric acid that was traditionally used to harmful organism , also its packed with Vitamin D.
It is such a universal mushroom used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. It has been known for its uses both fresh and dried, its main uses are for its antifungal and antiseptic properties. When fresh it has been used to make a plaster from the underside of the mushroom, a strip is removed from the pore membrane and creates a self-sticking plaster.
